Biography
Ray McGovern is a former Central Intelligence Agency analyst whose career spanned 1963 to 1990. He chaired National Intelligence Estimates and, for years, prepared and personally delivered the President's Daily Brief to senior officials — placing him at the centre of US intelligence assessment during the Cold War.
After leaving the agency he became a prominent critic of the politicisation of intelligence, co-founding Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), a group of former intelligence officers known for publicly challenging official assessments. He comments on US intelligence, the war in Ukraine and US–Russia relations.
McGovern does not maintain his own regular publishing platform; his analysis reaches audiences principally through interviews and appearances on independent programmes. He is surfaced here as a guest voice, with his contributions tracked through those appearances rather than a personal feed.
